40S Little Esky Golfing Figural Comic Esquire MagazineItem you are bidding on a really cool and exceedingly rare 1940's figural golf comic character display piece. This is composition in manufacture and the head removes and tilts to different comical proportions. This example measures 8 1/2 long and is based on the esquire magazine coevr character esky or little esky, the enduring impish girl watching comic charactor that was created by the african american illustrator elmer simms campbell, and resonated with american audiences for decades. The pop eyed walrus moustached ladies man appeared on covers of esquire magazine from 1934 1957, & was clearly styled after rich uncle pennybags the monopoly board game monicker and mascot. We previously had two similar in style and manufacture figural examples of these pop eyed comic characters for a womans corset company that were big ticket ebay auctions and wound up in na east coast advertising museum. This was likely manufactured by the mcgregor company, and tied in well with esquire magazine's man of leisure gentlemans audience and core following as the golfing theme is a perfect fit.
